On an April evening in the basement of the University of Montana Western’s Swysgood Technology Center, three generations of women gather for a StrongWomen workout.

With over three decades of teaching and education administration to his name, University of Montana Western alumnus Richard Jonasen will be honored with the 2013 Distinguished Alumni award.

On Thursday, Feb. 7, Montana Lt. Gov. John Walsh will be on the University of Montana Western campus to tour Montana Western’s iconic first building, Main Hall, which was renovated with over $10 million in state funding authorized by the Montana Legislature in 2007 and 2009.

University of Montana Western alumnus and award-winning educator Albert Bender died on Jan. 7, 2013 at his home in Miles City, Mont. He was 103.
