Because Montana Western’s primary source of funding, state appropriations, is not enough to fully support the university, Montana Western has diversified financial plans in place to supplement state funds.
At the forefront of Montana Western’s financial planning is the Strategic Plan for Action 2006-2012. This plan focuses on improving undergraduate education, increased enrollment and marketing efforts, recruitment and retention of quality faculty and staff, and long-range development planning. As part of the plan, revamped marketing and admissions efforts capitalize on the niche Experience One created for UMW and help keep the university competitive in difficult times for higher education.
The Montana Western Foundation’s continuing efforts include the October 2009 launch of the five-year, student-centered Campaign for Montana Western with the goal of raising $5 million. (Click for a complete PDF of Standard Seven.)
