University of Montana Western head men’s basketball coach Steve Keller announced the signing of Marquis Johnson of Bellwood, Ill. to a Frontier Conference/NAIA letter of intent.

Johnson, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound guard, is a 2010 graduate of Triton College of River Grove, Ill. and a 2008 graduate of Westinghouse High School. He averaged 13.4 points, eight rebounds, 2.9 assists and received all-conference honors.

“Marquis can play multiple positions and can guard any position on the floor,” Keller said. “Marquis is a great athlete and will be an impact player in our league.”

Johnson is undecided on his major at Montana Western. He is the son of Karlyn Cross.
