University of Montana Western 2010 graduate Nicole Yost will compete for the title of 2010 Miss Montana in Glendive during the week of June 13-19.
Yost said she has wanted to compete for the title since she was a junior in high school, and after watching the 2009 pageant, she decided to take a risk and compete.
“Obviously, I don’t appear like normal pageant girls, and I want to show everyone it doesn’t matter what you look like on the outside, it’s what’s inside that matters,” Yost said.
If Yost is elected Miss Montana 2010, she will travel throughout the state to share her talent, platform and work with the Children’s Miracle Network.
Yost has chosen to focus on adoption for her platform. Yost and her sister were both adopted, and she said becoming Miss Montana would give her the opportunity to help people to be better informed about adoption.
Since she began preparing for the pageant, Yost said she has become much more outgoing and well-spoken.
Yost is from Bozeman, Mont., and graduated from Montana Western with a degree in business administration.
