University of Montana Western volleyball coach Katie Howells announced the signing today of Charelle Vivian Minor, a 6-foot-2 middle blocker from Pocatello, Idaho, to a Frontier Conference/NAIA letter of intent.
Minor transfers from the College of Southern Idaho (CSI). She is a 2009 graduate of Pocatello’s Century high school where she was a three-year varsity letterman in volleyball and a two-year varsity letterman in basketball.
“We are excited about Charelle’s decision to play at Montana Western next season,” Howells said. “She will be a great fit and is a player that will make an immediate impact in our line up. Charelle comes with four years of eligibility after spending one season as a redshirt at CSI, winners of the national junior college championship. She is a great student who takes her academics seriously and is a natural all-around leader.”
In the classroom, Minor maintained a 4.0 GPA and graduated with high honors. She was selected to the National Honor Society and was a four-time all-around student recipient.
“I signed because I really liked the coaching staff and the atmosphere of Montana Western,” Minor said. “In the short time I was there, the volleyball girls made me feel really welcome and like a part of their team. I also wanted to go to a four-year school that had the degree I wanted and I’m excited to get the chance to excel on and off the court.”
Minor is the daughter of Charles and Rochelle Minor and will major in biology.
