Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer made an impromptu visit to the University of Montana Western to congratulate the 2009 Outstanding Baccalaureate Colleges U.S. Professor of the Year Rob Thomas on Friday, Dec. 11.
“We honor this entire institution, but in particular, the Carnegie Foundation recognized one of you,” Schweitzer said. “They picked a professor, a friend, a teacher, a mentor who takes the attitude that ‘I will embrace change. If this is the direction we are going, I will be the best that I can be under that system.’”
The governor called Thomas an innovator and finished by presenting him with an honorary State of Montana bolo tie.
